drawing | the nondominant hand

·
norma chose this week's theme. besides the nondominant hand challenge, i've let the train ride decide where this one was going to take me.
·
seems to me the landscape outside my window had a hand in it too. legend: the purple and greens are average rides, the red dots are stops {yes, dotted with my left hand}, the black lines are speed between the bigger stations.
·
this was fun! the passenger beside me thought otherwise. kept on scraping his throat, he did. did he want to say anything, i wonder? ☻

untitled.... i guess

corner view ≈ mineral {3/3}

drawing | who am i? {& kill your darlings}

from a sentiment to substantial evidence. when something becomes tangible, it can be so lovely, as in materializing a dream. i've been dreaming a lot, and i have been attempting to materialize those dreams. being cautious of the fact the outline differs from the original onset, any result at least allows for a less ethereal project.

·
there's the wholesome house. three floors begging for attention, receiving graftmanship mainly from one and a half pair of hands.
·
no disappointment, real slowness. in a compressed world characterized by ever increasing speed, i like to call this sanctuary my personal zen quarter. a hard lesson it's been {and is} though. a lesson i wouldn't have wanted to skip.
·
{image - fyi - NOT our house! ☻}
·
there's the shoppe, which has been floating. i hope only the eagle eyes have noticed the deadline shifting towards july 21st, this also being our national bank holiday. time to celebrate!
·

·
new booklets, new sets of tinyWOOLF notebooks, tons of cut out letters (huh?), postcards...
·
a few surprises, i hope.
·
please find here a sneak peek.
·
{more sneak peeks to follow}.
·

·
there's the old head, the one we've all got screwed on on top of our heavenly bodies. the head's been playing up. blaming it on the irresistible 5-0 nearing, i suppose general concern lies at the base, and cowardice and shortcoming, in my attempts to better the world {who do i think i am?}.
·
then again.
·
yet and curiously so. i sense intentions shifting.

·
there's the-being-a-woman-{and-a-mother}-thing-in-this-today's-world-thing. which may not be all too different from older-world-things. which has been on my mind, constantly. perhaps i should count it all down to tangibly sliding towards midlife. if we're lucky.
·

·
incidentally, this post started out scatteredly, with some thousand+ words. i've had to delete at least three quart. and now i am happy. writing is {the only place} where killing becomes truely gleeful.
·

·
i guess also, sweet reader-darlings... this is who i am, in a way.... patrice did put herself and us before a momentous task! interesting spell though... {and hell, i don't know why the queen of hearts is called judith! ☻}

drawing | favourite object

totally inspired by this by calamari studio who made a photo of wolf canyon, utah, usa.
{only this morning i discover the wolf link!
i was actually directly smitten by the image.
do check it out.}

this week i've encountered a few mountains in conversations, in images, in thought. always {try to} love what you encounter, i was thinking. relieved i should not drag myself to climbing a mountain, my favourite object would be the stipple.
{and patience shall be my partner.} ☻ helen gathers favourite objects.

roomster

·
lovely word, innit?
·
roomster
·
i just came across it. just now. i walked through the car park, and there it was, on a car, of all places!
·
it'd be a nice name for a blog, i thought, or else it'd be a lovely blogpost title, would it not?
·
demystification though!
·
roomster seems to be all about revisions and classrooms! that's a bit of a let down. ..
·
now, can i still claim the word, a bit
·
{image: vintage statuette, reminding me of the house of mirth}
·
·
mama's peony makes me feel like rooming.
·
or would that be roaming now?
·
o'er hills,
through dales....
·
ha!
the summer holidays ...

'first you notice, then you die'

i know. it sounds gruelling, don't it? i've been quite smitten with 2012 these days. not just hugh bonneville sweeping me off my feet. the dialogues on this situational documentary are... well.. to die for. never before have i been so utterly entertained by nonsense, the absolutely fabulous way, you know? i mean. take the olympics, which is what this situational real life sitcom is all about.

then take a crew and the ODC (olympic deliverance committee). there you have it: the exhaustive bubble of
architecture, infrastructure, brand, contracts, sustainability, legacy and deliverance, which will result in a worldwide entertainment plateau, holding a.o. olympic sport disciplines. the very thought of it. "and that's all good.*"

which brings me back to the title, anyway. quite a paradox to this life, in the end. i wonder if the script writers realized they were onto something big? oftentimes this is what life boils down to anyway.
first you notice. then you die
*stop word used by head of deliverance. that would be hugh

drawing | letter

·
more letters to indulge in,
over at
mano's welt.
great challenge!
cheers
·
·

here it comes again

·
"ooh-ooooh...
hey hey hey hey hey-ee-yea-ee-yeah...
·
here comes the rain again,
falling on my head like a memory,
falling on my head like a new emotion."
·
{dave stewart, for annie lennox}

·
a {past} saturday saturated with beaming sunlight.
·
a {past} sunday morning smothered in blankets of rain.
·
what to do in an unfamilar small town?

·
MOTI, breda prooved to be it. a gamble, and a good one at it. their running exhibition on the 21st century being just the thing, to jump out of the rain for: some one hundred dutch prominents offering their bird's eye view on the world, wall wide for the occasion.

·
is the world okay?
·
we wonder.
·
don't we?
·

·
when i heard play the rolling stones' I CAN'T GET NO SATISFACTION in above installation, i found it to sum right up our modern western civilisation.
·
can i put it this way?
·
the lesser i know about the condition of the world,
the calmer i feel.
the more i catch a glimpse of worldly chaos,
the more i feel lost

·
to break away from this sunday morning intermezzo, there is always the town of breda.
·
in the pouring rain.
·
for some reason, we left early.
·
come and do a twirl with me

corner view ≈ imagine

this week's theme by anna on jane's corner view, hosted by francesca

for real

·
once upon a time there were {plenty of} ladies that put a toe in deep water. the water was called cyberspace, and the depth of it never scary. the no limits factor at times bewildering, one needs to touch base also, and meet up. for real.
·
{i hope to meet you ALL, for real. i think this will happen too.}
·
image: ingrid & patrice

·
ingrid and patrice were there, at piet hein eek's in eindhoven (nl).
oh ~ my ~ god
as much for our meeting, as for the MAN, who was in his shop {us lucky birds} and whose grasp we fell for : his creativity, his design, his vision, his quirks. his furniture.
·
if you absolutely need me to stare you in the face.... then go look chez eye-snacks. i pull a silly face though. not~for~real! or, wait a minute. for real. MORE HERE

drawing | shadow {and leftover stromboli}

· i'm a cheat. i've made a scan of a shadow. and i made it by accident. so i'm a double cheat. but guess what? cook invented his best recipes by accident. that is what i console me with. because i sincerely wanted to draw, and perhaps i do that still. but if the above is what you're getting on your screen this weekend, then i've just remained the cheat. {in the picture my latest craze. ackroyd's biography of london. oh yes. one thing ALWAYS leads to the next. that's basic physics. ☻}
· what if ariane collects so many shadows that we shame that fifties guitar group into a reenactment? ..

{this is previous post added for zing}
·
it started with a media snatch i couldn't quite place.
·
then francesca mentions stromboli in a reminiscent way. she goes on explaining about the film, which indeed makes up for a missing link in my failing memory, but i can't yet put my finger on it.

·
kelleyn mentions stromboli to be a device to clean away ice from ice rinks. a little investigation doesn't go a long way in this case, but offers me a zamboni, urging me to understand these italian names are trademarks.

·
just now then, a keen memory creeps back in : one hairy biker re-explaining how the culinary stromboli got its name. in their italian episod to bakeation, the bikers prepare al fresco a rolled-up pizza, not unlike a calzone, by its initial creator baptized a stromboli, after aforesaid movie.
·
now.
·
that is a circle.

·
and here i do put my finger on {even if in ~ unintended ~ full eruption}.
·
homemade tomato sauce enriched by a few vegetables and a good helping of mozzarella inside store bought pizza dough ~ roll it up ~ bake it.
·
bon appétit!
·
☻ we're off to the netherlands. if computer says yes, he'll autonomously publish a drawing challenge shadow this weekend.
