drawing challenge | mandala
quite unwillingly so, have i designed a dinner plate? the truth is i did not know which direction this drawing was taking me. since, i've been researching the subject and bumped into zentanglezendoodle and zendala (the links here but a few random examples). i still feel a little reticent on the spiritual side of mandalas, but what a kaleidoscopic stimulus drawing circles, curves, lines and shapes within circles prooves to be. i feel so elated, i can't wait to come and find you all {probably by tomorrow only}. thanks so much for your enthusiast playing, crew:

  1. Now that is a plate I would like to hang on my wall! Maybe you could make plates and sell them in your shop when your renos are done and dusted...How about it Woolfy?

Still to hunt for that pic of little me and my birthday Spirograph.

    1. ha ha ha... really? so where will this be hiding, i wonder? do you still have removal boxes in your place? i've stopped rummaging in mine. i don't feel worse for it either. and in the meantime impatiently awaiting arrival of windows. new ones, naturally...
but when you do unearth the spiro and you! gimme a shout!

  3. Oh yes a plate why not? It´s a beautiful drawing, feels the time of autumn, has a very good energy inside - and a bit of old greece, no?

  4. Love your harvest plate :) dearest Nadeschda! I would buy it...

And I feel suddenly beeing on a stubble field, a huge taget out of straw in front of me, me nock an arrow, sending it with my bow...
taking a bow low to you, dear friend.

With your reticente on the spiritual side of mandalas you hit the mark.
How did you feel the doing of your mandala?

Thank you for this wonderful lesson: before I smashed my mandala, like the buddhist monks do, I feel fear. I wanna beware the beauty and wouldn't destroy it. But then, oh wonder, there come a feeling of cheering freedom!

    Love to you

    Ariane.

    1. the drawing of the mandala was a delight! it seems to me i have been occupied with ornamental drawing for quite a while now, perhaps since forever. but i never called it anything, except doodling, which this in essence is as well...

what you argue though, is so interesting! i'm sure i hadn't gone that far in discovering the destroying is what monks do, but of course they would, because perfection does not exist and all is temporary and for ever. what an interesting afterthought! i can imagine the fear, and the liberation aspects. must try this at home!
on the other hand? i'm not ready to smash a whole lot over at my end, i can tell ya... ;)))

  21. Wow Nadine, this is indeed a wonderful dinner service design. Wonderful. And that leopard cloth that it sits on is just over the top, art friend! I see this in fine bone china at a table in Kenya, circa whenever "Out of Africa" took place [as the book was written long after the events in real time.] A stunning visual. Love this. Norma, xo
