if the girl can't make it to london, then london needs to make it to the girl, right? i wanted to post something else, something long-be-gone, something sexy even, if i say so myself. when i turned thirteen i got my very first natural bronze. that happened in summery spain, in a village called nules.
la vagabonde knows of the place, young as she is. her spark helped me to smell that cow's leather from
el corte inglés again, the fat olives in monstrous glass containers, the drying meats on stripy market stalls, mucky sun tan oils sold in the tiny, local
mercado.

snap back to reality and alas! the picture i wanted to show you of 13-year-old-me, grinning about in the surf and spitting on sand, sits in a moving box, and the adult me cannot reach for her at this very instant. what to do?
what would my dream destination be, which place
always pops to mind, when the words 'holidays' and 'snap' are being mentioned?
♥ london! ♥

Nice post. I'v been to London a couple of times and I think it's high time for a return viist . . . or should that be Spain?
ReplyDeleteHad to smile when reading your post! ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your London snaps, love the city...was there twice in my teenage times (looooong ago!) and hopefully go back even already in this winter, *juchuu"!
London is "way out"! I enjoyed your pic picks.
ReplyDeleteI think you might like the Diane Kurys film, La Baule-les-Pins. It's about a thirteen-year-old girl on a beach holiday, and it's one of my favourites.
ReplyDeletehaha, and you choose lovely weather in London ;)
ReplyDeleteI love your travel post, so free and cheeky (is that British English? I hope I used it correctly!),
ReplyDeleteand great photos. I'm off to London then...♡
will take a look for 13-year old you! cheers
Now, I know why I have to go to London.
ReplyDeleteMerci :)
OOOO vakantie..daar zal jij inmiddels ook wel aan toe zijn! Ik hou van dromen..en vakantie.
ReplyDeleteYour writing makes me feel at home. In another life I was a poet (and perhaps I will be again), and something about the way you speak of London is very familiar. Love the snaps, too!
ReplyDeleteyes London nice place to be!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the the London trip !!!
ReplyDeletewhat a fun post. It had me smiling all the way through.
ReplyDeletethanks for that.
Oh very nice holiday pics ... thanks.
ReplyDeletethese were very fun. love your take on london. you obviously had a great time. liked your needlepoint post too!
ReplyDeleteO yes London!!
ReplyDeletewell all of England we do love!!
Stragely, I have been longing to go back to London. It has been 18 years since I have been. Now I have a little more money and could actually enjoy all that London as to offer. However, I don't think it is in the cards for a few more years. Next trip is to the Carribbean. Husband wanted to spend Christmas on the sand with the children.
ReplyDeleteI love England, but I have not really been to London yet, this is a great way to see a bit from the town!
ReplyDeleteI used to live in London, but then I met my (now) US husband and he didn't like London - hard to believe!
ReplyDelete13 seems so long ago!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteMy first "holidays" out were at 15 in Paris, obviously I falled in love with that city. And I return when I can.
Beautiful
Always great to see photos of London - my home town.
ReplyDeleteNadine you have some men that comment, i'm thinking....
ReplyDeletei'm so glad you had a wonderful time!
Heeeeeey thank you thank you thank you!
ReplyDeleteHow could you even ask for permission?
I know you Nules memories are kind of important for you, melancholic at least. I liked you Spain shadows, the truth is I really felt identified with them. But I guess those things are normal to me.
This was so lovely from you I appreciate it very much.
In fact, I was in London only for two days but I loved it. My parents were there this last weekend and they liked it very much.
Besides, my plans were studying in London Central Saint Martins, it's a school of art and I want to study fashion design there after my spanish art studies.
Maybe I'll invite you when I live there :)
Big kisses
Superb post! You just had to catch me at EastEnders ~ such a fan I was. I can't view it here in the US anymore. Sad.
ReplyDeleteSuch fun.
LOL... the post!
ReplyDeleteYou have just given me some serious home sickness! I am from Oxford which is only and hour and a half away from London centre and used to spend nearly ever weekend there in my late teens/20s. I used to go blag interviews with all the top bands by pretending to write for various magazines and score free tickets to all the gigs so was always a cheap, and very fun night out. Those where the days!!!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! Sun is in my mind ;)
ReplyDeleteI totally dig london. visit every year.
ReplyDelete(I have been to nules too ;P)
thank you - we lived near Hackney (Clapton) for a while, a long while (10 years) ago... loved the trip back :)
