what better time for change than september, on the last day of august? oh glory! for some reason or other this tune springs to mind, but then the air seems to burst with humour and lol. oh yes! it's that time of the year when the coen brothers uninvitedly knock on the door and hazardous dapper dan, for obvious reasons, melts my ♥. all over again.
in september.... i just live twice! in september, i find change to be easy as pie. cherry pie. and then pumpkin.
bon appétit joyce, on jane's corner view, hosted by francesca.

Living in Mississippi, this is a favorite amongst many films by the Coen's. I especially love the way the colors of the filmstock change in the end to end to become an old fashioned sepia-toned "post card."
ReplyDeleteLove your description of September, Nadine.
ReplyDeletethat is interesting how change is easier in some months.
ReplyDeleteFunny: O' brother... is the movie we automatically put in dvd when we are feeling down. No way of keeping a bad mood with the Soggy Bottom Boys ;-)
ReplyDeleteI also love September because I love enterring automn, changing colours, re-discovery of the sweet sensation of covering the body with wool and blankets, feeling "home sweet home" more than ever, thinking slowly but surely to Christmas (yes, I said it!). And because it will be my birthday the 20 and the new DEUS is for the 19 ;-)
Have a sweet September
ps: yes, it was me - my sweetest me- on the pic last week ;-)
You made me laugh, have to watch that movie again. Summer seemed so short this year and although i love autumn, it comes a bit to soon this year. x
ReplyDeletelove that song. thank you. and happy september.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow begins in September. For us this is indeed always a time of holidays (we usually travel in early September), but when we come back, goes to school everyday and work release. Unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteBut I love the weather in September - a little summer, a little fall.
Happy September to you:)
I love the gates in both photos! I think I could hear the leaves crunching under your footsteps s you headed into Fall. xo
ReplyDeleteMy husband views the season by pie, too! he even has birthday pie.
ReplyDeleteLove the gates.
Unluckily german GEMA changed the film into a sad black square for reasons of rights...an evil attack on my humor! Hope this behaviour of censorship will soon be changed!!
ReplyDeleteYahoo for fall!
ReplyDeleteyep, you make me wish that I would taste a fresh september again....
ReplyDeleteSeptember is my all time favorite month also ....I love your gate images!
ReplyDeleteIs this by your home?
i wish i could be so accepting of september! i couldn't, ever, so i moved to l.a.! xoxo
ReplyDeleteYour photos are making me very excited for autumn, even though its a looong way away for us down here.
ReplyDeleteWhen autumn comes, before we have any hint of coolness in the air, before the humidity of summer fades away and the crispness of November comes, before the clouds turn grey and wispy, I always hear a train whistle in the mornings. And it always seems like its going someplace magical, and I think that is very much an autumn kind of train.
Enjoyed the entire post, but can't get beyond the thought of pumpkin pie. Maybe I'll pick one up on the way home for dinner - I can eat the whole pie and count it as a vegetable, right?
ReplyDeleteI can get behind that kind of change....
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder about pumpkin pie, my favorite! Yes, change can be good (and delicious!) I love the changing colors in the fall ... just around the corner, right?
ReplyDeletejust a few minutes left of august and I'm trying to focus the positive things ahead, even though there are no pumpkins growing here. Loved your interpretation of this week's theme.
ReplyDeleteI just had my first pumpkin ice cream cone of the season. The Pumpkin Festival is in 3 weeks so all sorts of things pumpking are beginning to appear in this small town. I usually go from black raspberry to peach to cherry, then apple before arriving at pumpkin.
ReplyDeleteGreat movie and superbly sung song--always a smile maker!:>)
Those two photos conjure memories from another life.
ReplyDeletexo
I love O'Brother movie and the soundtrack too. A real masterpiece :)
ReplyDeleteHi! Thanks for visiting my blog. The Charleston I was talking about was Charleston, South Carolina. The town is famous for the old houses' side gardens. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteoh wow. most people dread september.
ReplyDeletehappy happy month, you (jou, aparte -goed apart- dame ;)
alles goed hier. jij?
forgot to say: I was just watching mr. clooney giving a press conference in venice about his new film when I opened the link to "dapper dan".
ReplyDeletegive me some of that slick, sticky dapper dan any day, I say.
(sorry... ;)
September is nice to verify that the cycle of seasons goes on. Is there a new "Coen" soon?
ReplyDeleteFor the picture I took. It was in Opéra Bastille, I wanted to capture the lights... and I took a last photo by mistake ;) I kept it...
the one thing i really hate about blogging, is that it makes me super-aware of autumn's arrival elsewhere, and i get VERY envious :(
ReplyDeletebut your photos here are magical... and i will have to be content, for now, with vicarious autumnal living...
