corner view ≈ where has the time gone?

brussels - kruidtuin/botanique
an open query. when one starts leafing through photo albums {really old ones, because do you find you just don't glue photographic mementoes into albums anymore? i mean glueing for projects, try and stop me! but family memories? they all seem to reside.... online. what if the online bank breaks? in half? in two? in a million pieces?}

brussels - kunstberg/mont des arts
time flies, leaks, seeps through seams. blurs, fades, dims. which i don't necessarily find a cruel thing either. imagine, if time didn't do all of the above? we mightn't age, but, really. would you like to stay forever young, weary, uncertain, small? bar the advert part of below video, here's a cute take on 'good times'... enjoy ♥

  1. you buy an external memory and save your "life" there, in case the interwebs crack and break, that's what you do.

wouldn't want to stay little or young forever, no. still, not sure I comprehend (not sure any of us does) the point of the whole "life" thing... ;)

and for time, won't go back nor forward; the past i have, stories inside, memory rooms; the future will come no doubt and so i'm happy with the present. lovely post! xx

  8. I like to grow older and hopefully wiser too!!

But I can understand what you mean, I use to make a photo album myself and no they are all on the pc....bit boring if I think of it...but than...I never really watch photo's in the album...I rather keep memories in my heart!

  9. I have stopped making photo albums - no time! They are all locked away on little computer keys - it's not the same at all, is it?
    Love the ad.

  10. Lovely spot, could be me, 'cause I love to find the right presents for people and their face expressions when they unwrapp their packages... ;o)

Well, good-old photo album...stopped glueing photos even shortly before digital cameras came their way. Firstly tried the more efficient insertation version: to be finished quickly, easy to be changed - no charme. Then I chose the fastest version: throwing all my paper photos into a large carton box. Still impossible to find the photos you'd like to show, but stumble across many others in between...always good for a lough!
The digitals then stay what they are: digital. I once had a book printed, hardcover, highly professional appearance, but again - no charme!
In the end there's nothing about the good-old glued photo album, washy agfa-colours, transparent seperator sheets...there you are, sentimental alarm! Have a look into my photo album and you know why! ;o))

  13. I love that advertisement...I cried, but then I am a big sook! Yes I would love to stay forever young...at the age I am now. I have worked through all my crap, my body is still kind of OK and there is so much of the world to experience! One lifetime isn't enough,

  15. the english are so good at such things....but really.....it would be the FIRST TIME for me if the sun were actually pouring in the bedroom window on an English christmas morning!

  16. I loved the advert. It was a surprising and totally sweet ending. Possibly it's a reminder to us that Christmas should be more about giving than getting.

I have three styles of saving memories: digital saved on computer, digital made into a book and two calendars, and good ol' Kodac film photos stuck in albums. I love them all.
But I, being the sentimentalist that I am, favor the ones I can open with my hands--ones that my granddaughter and I can sit side by side on the couch and talk about as we stroll together back in time. Scrapbooks--love them. Do I have time to keep up on them? Ahhh, now that's a different topic altogether!

  19. The little guy was more exciting about the giving. So sweet. You make a good point. I hope the online bank doesn't break. We've become dependent on it in so many ways.

  22. Time has certainly been slipping by lately ... I've barely been making my Corner View rounds, I've been so swamped with other projects. Happily, I have had time for my glue stick and colored pencils, though :) Your meditation here on time is just lovely! (As always.) Glad I finally found the time to visit again!
