drawing challenge NEW THEME : cross stitch

·
my late auntie cross stitched all her life. in my memory, i see her sitting by the front room window, catching the late daylight.
·
by the time her eyes were giving, she was the first one on the block to use a magnifying glass.
·
{a lot of couleur CRANFORD involved, when she worked away in her local circle of friends! ☻}
·

·
i don't think i appreciated embroidery work as a child, and to this day i feel inhibition towards cross stitch.
·
but i do understand the labour of love involved, and i'd love lending it a contemporary twist, in a drawing challenge, e.g.
·
let's cross stitch, everybody! let's pick up pencil, pen, paint. let's use paper, scissors, rock. ☻ or whatever. let's design a cross stitch pattern... leave your name in the comments section, if you are in. i'll cross stitch you later!
{challenge 28-29/07}

  2. hello my dearie!
    yes you've got it - outside skipping through the fields, sitting under trees drawing in journals whilst fiddling with Lambie's soft spotted ears, jumping in the river with the gang of 9 - 12 year old boys that run around like a swarm of happy bees..horses, pigs, rodeos and outdoor music festivals. Yep ! i've been away from my desk! :)
    we are well, i'm working on a special board selected to form a Creative District plan for our little town. Lots of work!
    I am going to 3 art shows this summer. wish i had a "smart phone" so i could blog on the go ...but alas! its just me and my old world desktop computer.
    i will try to stitch with you but...(see above)
    thank you for popping in! the buzz around here is increasingly Christo-y. A gathering of cyber souls is always welcome here!

  14. I love embroidering, but I've never cross stitched in my life. I guess I don't like the look of the designs too much: as you point out, they look like pixel images!

  18. oh this is ambitious. i love the way cross stitch looks - do you know the little kneeling bricks they use in english churches? - lovely!

    i did try to make a pillow cover once, but maybe cross stitch is not so much for me. but i will come back and see what the rest of you do.

    meanwhile, phillip seymour hoffman - does he make being an actor look like fun? nothing like a getting a paycheck for behaving like somebody's worst self!
