corner view ≈ something difficult

i was looking for a blog topic as i came across dorte's theme. it suited me to a t. waking up this morning, i rose from a dream in which my small son and i were traveling. we weren't on our own either, we enjoyed the company of a man and his young daughter. having boarded the train in some obscure place and sharing our wonder, my 4-year-old suddenly got off and i ended up in a nightmare.

all is well that ends well, and sometimes waking up is the best thing that can happen. another such dream befell me a week earlier. rising from my bed after the alarm sounded, i stumbled down the stairs and didn't switch on the lights. I find walking in the relative darkness fairly comfortable. by remaining in the dark, i was careful not to shake the contents of my dream.

in this dream my son was an adult, as he is in reality. i don't know how it came about, but we hooked up over a jam session with some of his friends {who don’t play music in real life, btw}. anyway, i got bored and went out for a morning walk. avoiding fresh rain puddles, i decided to climb an interesting site filled with ruins. in doing so, the usual thing happened: spiraling my way up a huge object to next freeze on vertigo. i waited some. two seperate men turned up out of nowhere offering help, to subsequently disappear. only then did it dawn on me i could climb down the way i'd come, providing those youngsters behind me would budge. they would.

back on the ground level, i waited ages to let small children pass over stairs that weren't there in the beginning of the dream and i got two phone calls while waiting. one was my son, the other my mother. both were asking impossible things of me. after my near death experience on the ruin's ridge, i found their ignoring demands excruciating. i didn't bother informing them, they wouldn't listen. somehow though, waking from that tell-tale dream...

... i felt light as a feather, smooth as a young thing, rejuvenated by thought and whisked up by action. i also completely realized that some difficult things in life you do not need to conquer, you just walk out backwards to save your soul. help is relative, you are your own best remedy {not to say a helping hand is nice}. and the ruin impasse fortuitously mirrors my present erratic work circumstance. i see that now. jane's corner view, francesca's hosting, dorte's theme.

  2. it was only just after reading your fascinating piece i had a good look at your photos and realized they all had that 'places and moods you find in a dream' quality, the endless paths, the mesmerizing patterns, the funny collection, the inviting wood, the deep water, than it occured to me that life is full of dreams,(and dreams are full of life) that we look at things with 'a different eye' in a dream, that we focus in a peculiar way. (i'm thinking aloud here, does it make any sense?..?.)

and i felt joy by your last paragraph 'i felt light as a feather', hold on to thatt feeling and the rest my dear, as long as you can ;)
have a lovely dream tonight xx

  4. Dreams are always so interesting! Sometimes I find them a reflection of what is going on and as an answer to what it going on and other times I find them total nonsense. I am sorry you are feeling stressed in your work situation.

  8. Life and dreams. Both very interesting. Both real in their own ways.
Like they say on the planes: take the air mask first, then you help.
Not the other way around. xo
