on crochet, in general

·
crocheteers out there? do you start a project all over, if the work under your hands does not satisfy? this is one feature i simply love having inherited of mum.

·
if a result bugs me, i end it. then i tear it out (to reuse yarn, yeah?). sometimes that is hell... but i'm thinking. crochet to me is meditation. when i start over and i contemplate this belligerent task, i think it is okay to resurface.
·
here i have actually stopped myself from crocheting further the single crochets, and started over again, ...

·
... with this.
·
so far, the prognosis is good.
·
i'm picturing myself on a damp autumn evening, making myself a cup of tea, having just a tad too little clothes on for the season, and draping an all reds scalloped-kind-of-blanket 'round my shivering shoulders. yeah?
·
if i'm lucky, i'll make it happen this autumn too.

  5. Lovely colors and it will make for a happy autumn morning. You have quite the perseverance gene, Nadine---in renovating and now in crocheting. It's a wonderful trait to have. :>)

I was rearranging the huge hall closet--goes back over the basement stairs--and found way back on the top shelf Mama's shades of blue/green afghan. I would love to bring it out, but the cats would love it too. So I will save it for a room in the house where the cats will only be allowed with much supervision:my studio. It will be quite lovely on Mama's blue recliner (that is if I get the recliner back from my son who is borrowing it for the present time).
I did not inherit that particular creative gene--I do not sew, knit, or crochet;all three things that Mama did quite well. But then she didn't paint or creatively scrapbook and make cards and I do, so I think some creativity carried down. ;>)

  6. Yes, I start all over - one of the things about handmaking is that you can make something just as you like, so no sense in keeping something that's not quite right. Love the color combo, and a scalloped stitch is much nicer than plain single one. Happy crocheting!

  9. The colours are fabulous! I don't touch hooks or needles anymore but I remember doing a lot of ripping out and starting again.

  10. If crocheting is reflecting for you, then what matters is the process, and not always the result.
A bit similar to piano works I have to play, my teacher always says that what counts is what you learn on the process, not the result.
Unfortunately I'm not like you, so many times I'm phisically unable to leave a task, I have to finish it and do it the best I can. I'm too self-exigent, sometimes it turns me crazy.
I wish I could be more like you, more zen, more reflective, I wish I could say: here it is, the end of it, I can't finish. Let's jump to somethin else.

Another thing to note on my list on things to change!
    Big kisses and love

  11. ohhh woolfy

you are a crochet fiend I see the colours are very lovely and the pattern just a bit clever. Yes I am a perfectionist too and happily will restart 5 6 10 times over if necessary and sadly due to my lack of crochet finesse (I crochet like a fisherwife) and a repertoire of granny squares I restart often.

I think you need to break through and get those scallops happening because they are delish!!!

OH by the way draeing challenge post is up on my ol bloggy so if you would like to participate dont forget to pop over and leave a comment

  13. YES! I have finished one side of a sweater, did not like it and unraveled it all! I don't mind doing this either. It has it's own appeal, I do love the power of being able to pull the string and undo it all and then start over. Before long, right back where I was, only better. Lessons in that I think xoxo
