is it just me, or is geometric pattern all the rage around the blogosphere, lately?

·
jewelry ofcourse, being a thankful subject to that, as in faceted crystal gemstones, but i also see potential right next here

i was wondering, what would an earth grain look like, under the microscope?

corner view ≈ room with a view

·
i once upon a time stayed with friends, in france, where i made use of the guest room, offering a delightful view on a secret garden. some view!
·
when resting on hot afternoons, i often let my imagination run riot, the alice way.

city crusades

as i was searching for the music of the 21st century sherlock holmes, i couldn't help but being reminded of that other set of scoundrels from the seventies. when you play both scores at once, they sort of suit one another! {let sherlock run approxim. 11 seconds prior - adjust separate volumes if necessary}☻

drawing | a pair of

·
in my mind, they are inseperable, to the point i like to devour them both in one go. yes, greedy me.
·
in your childhood, did you drape these around your ear, i wonder?
·
soon, soon. it will be cherry season over here. what a relief. do go check out helen's who has many more pairs up her sleeve this weekend!☻

corner view ≈ typical family dinner

·
typical? oi, belgian fries i'd say, but i'm lacking the images (since notebook came back from manufacturer in the nude - meaning i've lost many images).
·
as a child i was very fond of apple sauce and sausages, but i don't seem to be making those these days.

·
i think i will have to show you an outtake from last monday. being invited to dinner always feels like a bit of a treat, especially after doing away with ghastly green all morning.
·
the food was delicious, and that is a typical feature of the performing cook. please forgive me for not submitting the recipe. i did simply indulge in this plate of food, no questions asked.☻

smakelijk to all.

on crochet, in general

·
crocheteers out there? do you start a project all over, if the work under your hands does not satisfy? this is one feature i simply love having inherited of mum.

·
if a result bugs me, i end it. then i tear it out (to reuse yarn, yeah?). sometimes that is hell... but i'm thinking. crochet to me is meditation. when i start over and i contemplate this belligerent task, i think it is okay to resurface.
·
here i have actually stopped myself from crocheting further the single crochets, and started over again, ...

·
... with this.
·
so far, the prognosis is good.
·
i'm picturing myself on a damp autumn evening, making myself a cup of tea, having just a tad too little clothes on for the season, and draping an all reds scalloped-kind-of-blanket 'round my shivering shoulders. yeah?
·
if i'm lucky, i'll make it happen this autumn too.

drawing | i am aquarius

·
for 2150 years aquarius will rule our age. in retrogade following the recent age of pisces, we've landed ourselves at the very beginning of an interesting era.
·
executing a tad of research on the subject, we may actually not be in the clear about its exact kick-off.

·
let's stick to the sign. a friend of mine drew my horoscope a few years ago and calculated my aquarian liabilities, which in turn appear on no less then three levels, which is rich, in a calamitous way.
·
when my aquarian nature surfaces, i often find merry murphy in my vicinity though.
·
interestingly, in asian countries i hop about a happy bunny {read: rabbit / cat}, but in western europe i am carrying the water home.
·
i've tried bringing a few aforementioned elements together in one drawing.
·
however, shall we come close to a celestial troupe

hard-waring green {renov # 24}

·
the hallway usually is the artery to a house. it is by most means, the spot where one enters one's humble adobe.
·
for the past two years already, we've been living this, our very own green, green grass of home. actually. that would be lying. it was only last year, i did steam off the last remnants of the multi layered wall paper,

·
so this unpleasing green was revealed to us just some twelve months ago. this {cadmium, forest, hunter, army, pakistan, moss, bottle, poolgreen has been biting our ankles like it is nobody's business.
·
not just that. it comes all glossed over shiny. once upon a time a slap on dado, it now sits saddeningly stickety-stick on the lower part of our much worn hallway walls.

·
this is something i have contemplated while plastering and sanding.
·
as i've recently been spending the better part of two days in the downstairs hallway, i've had good intention after clever plan after sad rejection on how to efficiently do away with that ghastly green.

·
as i've also been planning the garden these spring days, the meaning of the colour green has been seeping in through all pores, no doubt about that.
·
green can be drunk in, especially after a gruesome grey winter. green is a fresh colour to cheer anyone up, on those budding trees and shrubs, and in the promise of flower leafs
·
{and freshly sewn, invisible grass, for that matter - and thank you once again, renilde, for fruits of your labour from your luscious garden!}
·
just no poker green on a hallway wall please, and not of the fiery kind.
·
be sure the dado green will pop back: it only sits on all three floors of the hallway.
·
{image: installation in garden patch, 'sewing the seeds of lawn', praying to keep the birds out. explanatory note : the red tubing is the electricity guide from the house towards the shed, to be finished by electrician. the important part is already buried in the ground.} ☻

corner view ≈ egg

·
once upon a time, i had a strange egg in the house.
·
i put it on the window sill, contemplating its seize. each time i passed the egg, i stroked its soft shell, which also felt a little uneven.
·
i guess you could say i liked its touch.
·
i'd been presented with the egg by means of a gift. someone had carefully emptied the egg out for me, and then brought it to the house. i was careful in turns, not to waste it, as in letting it drop.
·
it lived with us for a good few years. until one day, i let it drop.
·
i guess you could say one can't make any omelette without breaking the egg, but in this case, ... well.

corner view ≈ work and play {on the 24/7 subject}

·
work and play seem to come in alternate peaks and bouts. if you're in for a sticky story, roll on! on  some people's request, i shall reluctantly let you in on how i tackled the cracked rolling pin. disappointingly perhaps, i used a figure of speech in a poor stand up comedy way. for no nifty, naughty nor fabulous solution popped to my mind, but good old trustworthy duct tape. {as decoratively shown here, on your left}

·
i did not age the tape as sue barker on tv always did, rendering it low tack by sticking it a few times to your own clothes. the pickle started when i could but find the painter's duct tape, not the hardwaring one. closing time in the diy stores, i had to make do with what i literally had on hand, which was soreness and a few misery bits of sticky tape. which meant the handle cracked further, like, when in a cartoon, the protagonist stands too close to the edge of the ravine, and the grounds underneath crumble away as he breathes.
·
i felt a little like that unfortunate hero.

·
the other stunning fact was i just needed rolling one last square yard of wall, before i was done for the day anyway. these things happen only when one feels tattered. totally uninspired, i ended up wrapping an old cloth over the handle, which unravelled as i frowned upon it, fluttering to the messy floor a few times, probably totally offended by my  unglamourous whispering under end of an exhausting day breath.

·
luckily we have two (!) decent sized diy stores at hand. when i say at hand, i should perhaps call it at foot, just a 5 minutes walk away. for a breather, rescue remedy so close to home works wonders. has done so, oh, numerous times before. the silver duct tape is my newest hero, sticking close-by, as i roll on.

a letter of contentment

dear heather, i know what you mean by having the feeling someone just like you is living in another country. when small, i spent sleepless nights over this question. nowadays keeping virtual world wide connections the way we do, these earlier assumptions are being confirmed. i've yet to unearth a monozygotical element (i'm not looking), but i'm sometimes freaked by duplicate features i distinguish in people living on the other side of this planet. just as amazing i find it to be nominated on your blog! i shall of course oblige and fill in five random facts about myself, before moving swiftly on to more intense labour of the day, which will include paint and plaster {and roller pins on wednesday}. what else is new?

1. i listened to etienne vermeersch being interviewed on the telly yesterday morning. i was in mum's house, giving the crystal chandelier a good scrub (not my particular idea of spending a sunday morning, but mum is an avid spring cleaner). mum wanted to turn down the box, but i positively squealed. at the risk of tumbling down the dinner table, i couldn't for the life of me miss the philosopher's view on this world's condition. i'm a sucker for a thought, or two.

2. i love london. i think i may have lived there in another life. only, i don't believe in other lives. therefore i believe i'm a bit of a mad hatter, to fall for a city like that. london still smells like she did when i first met her, at the age of seventeen.

3. once upon a time, i met a man from buffalo, usa, on the cross country greyhound from des moines into chicago. i think he was on his way home. we liked one another, but favoured different destinations. buffalo will always sound a little special to me, and now i see your roots lie there, heather!

4. everything alice! there's the mad hatter again... i sure would LOVE to interview lewis carroll on the subject, check out whether he was as lyrical in real life as he was on paper. that's not going to happen, so i keep to alice. i have to.

5. i don't always go to sleep happy. turmoil is known to be mine when i turn in for the night. that could be a nightmare (like last night) or insomnia. i fear i'll slide of the stairs when i fetch a glass of water. i call it fear of anything dark, which i don't favour. therefore i could not ever love LORD OF THE RINGS, which i don't. i was in awe of the special effects though: too real!

these above facts are random indeed. i could go on, but that is not the question. this list will look totally different in the morning. now, do i find five other good souls to keep the ball rolling? will joanne, leslie, kylie, angela and mar play? over to you's. ..

drawing | smile

my mantra, lately. based upon nat king cole's unforgettable words, and linking to leena's, who came up with the idea of smiles. a good one! ☻
