destination uncalled for, just a random thought popping to mind. if i could make some sense of it, i would offer you a front row view. truth is, i'm at a loss. maybe for lack of direction.
until stepping out last saturday, when i stumble upon this weathered, handmade road sign. i've seen the sign blowing up and down the other end of the street all week. on further inspection, i'm affected by its cardboard quality, a furtively jotted down ball point destination by a traveler anxious to get out, go elsewhere or come home. only then i notice the misspelling of this town's name, and the stilted lay-out. the sign makes me smile.
in its process of decay however, the board got blistered and beaten. some end to a recent, promising destination. ☻ circumstantial theme by kelleyn, on jane's corner view, hosted by fuoriborgo
brussels central railway station on saturday night i was starving, does it show? |
The colors in the railway station shot are mesmerizing. It looks like a theater set.
ReplyDeleteAre those colored items in the railroad picture trash bags perchance?
ReplyDeleteI hope that hitchhiker got a ride. The sign looks like it wouldn't help too much.

ReplyDeletenice theme for the drawing challenge
great images!!
and yes, it shows, the cold
I can't see you were starving, but I like this station because I like to go to Brussels - Bruxelles... And I can imagine I draw a little road sign for Bruxels!
ReplyDeleteMay be the writer of the one you found was very excited to go...
Have a nice day (with delicious food ;))
Love stations, have so many stories on them
ReplyDeleteThought it was a theatre stage instead of a railway station! Looks quite surreal, like an arranged setting!
ReplyDeleteAlso had to smile about the hitchhiker's sign, the writer was obviously out by the length of the town's name he wanted to go to...I hope he wasn't out by the distance, either?! ;o)
oh! my daily station ;-)))
ReplyDeleteI would love to go back to Brussels and actually stay this time. We once drove through, but never got the chance to actually explore. What would be one thing I would have to see if I went to Brussels?
ReplyDeleteYou? Lack of Direction? Oh, I don't believe it:))
ReplyDeleteI think it's just that your direction is a meandering one, the m word, that leads you to find life in clues and clues in life that make everything that would seem a 'loss' to be a treasure in your eyes:))
Happy wandering, you know the way:))♡♡
I like the photo of the station too, it feels like a stage set.
I make the image of the station. I think stations are very interesting. Coming and going, and many stories that happen.
ReplyDeleteyou think the hitchhiker is to his destination?
ReplyDeletethe photo shows emptiness (your stomach?)
hope the person arrived to his/her destination :)
ReplyDeleteIt makes you wonder.....
ReplyDeleteThe colored items remind me of popsicles melting but still colorful.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your interpretations. The sign is poignant in its beaten, worn look.
i liked the idea of both the hitchhikers sign and the empty train platform. travelling is so much of both. the empty unknown ahead, the loneliness of not knowing, (when you might eat next!), and the stations, places and signs left behind. love it!
ReplyDeleteyour museum visit looks like fun too! love the hair and hat art that africans are so good at.
it's a nice story, all because of a hand scribbled sign. Misspellings can be unforgiving - I saw once a "BAD & breakfast" sign nearby!
ReplyDeleteI like your interpretation of the theme of the week.
ReplyDeletethat sign makes me a bit sad... or perhaps it's just your poignant rendering of it. as for starving... i don't know. i don't think it shows... you're "destination" turned into a very mysterious post, i think ;)
ReplyDeletep.s. and i'm laughing at francesca's "BAD and breakfast!"
ReplyDeletePoor little sign! (and I recently passed in that railway station, too, but it was a Tuesday) Have a nice evening!
ReplyDeleteTHANK you for your beautiful words, and of course, you're right! we have to keep blogging :))
ReplyDeletewonderful cardboard sign, hitch-hikers are a rare sight here but we see more of them in the summer, it's just a pity i mostly have my car full of kids :) ♥
I wonder if this traveler made it to his/her misspelled town...
ReplyDeleteWhat a piece of magic that brought that sign your way ... it's funny what the wind can carry.
ReplyDeleteI love your photo at the train station ... the colours are beautiful.
Aah, dear Nadine,
ReplyDeletethat big black 'H' tell us 'HUNGER!'?
It needs time til I can see the station... it looks like a stage of a theatre.
x Ariane.
