corner view ≈ october

almost one year ago, i moved in at l's. that was after one hectic october, in which i both tried to manage renovation going on (or rather stagnating, and thus pressing builders) and plan an akward house move.

to this day, most of our furniture remains in limbo. we kind of live from boxes (and therefore lead a diluted, sparse if you like, daily life). oi, it can wear the most optimistic soul down.

october last year, and october this year therefore leave me well stranded, trying to make sense of it all. i should really put on this, and give october a well deserved kick up the --- (whilest keeping the spirit up though.)

    I love that little trailer you used for moving! I imagine the frustration, but you did a lot in one year - happy anniversary!

    "Burning Down the House" is an excellent song to dance around the house to -- I know of no better way to disperse stagnant energies and kick off any edges of despair!

    well, you with your renovation and me with my chronic illness - leads to not quite accomplishing what we'd wish. i was just sighing over the things that need to be sorted through, organized, cleaned up, painted, repaired, etc., in this house. and it still remains... so i wish you and me both, patience and courage to face the fray, or not, as it happens!

    Having lived like a gypsy for many, many,many years, I know how frustrating living out of boxes can be. Sending good (and sympathetic) vibes your way! You'll get there - just grab a gin and tonic and crank up the Talking Heads :-)

    In my experience, sometimes things happen veeerrry slowly. Frustrating. But usually for a good reason that we can't always see at the time.

    What is interesting is that what you're gonna take out of the boxes is not the same you would have picked a year ago. Sometimes, a year of "washing your mind" and waiting to forget what you put in boxes is not bad... Oi, am I the one to say that? I also celebrate my first year in Zurich, with boxes still in Brussels, and already things to reorganize here. Just don't want to put me into that!

    I think we all would like our lives to be lighter, but no, we can't make it lighter, there are always circumstances.

    We can, however, emphasize the good parts. And looking back, that's exactly what you've been doing this past year, on this here blog.

    So, a good year by my standards. And next year will be even better.

    hello!

    there was a time i changed the room i was renting 13 times in 6 years and have mastered the art of diluted living. the next 6 years i am more rooted. it's kids, you know how they need it... but the diluted way remains and grows. so watch out, you may grow to love it and become a gypsy (or a half-bum as me).
