corner view ≈ communicado

not your average sign language, i realize. just a few somethings i came across in the thrift shop last week. intrigue!
when i got home to unwrap them, they rang a bell
they are colouring crayons!
a zealous kid leaned too hard on a few orange fingers though. come to think of it, i could have been that kid!
but imagine... coloured sign language. communicating being a daily routine, this corner view prooved to be a challenge. i mean, i could go on for hours, off course... ☻☻☻ but what really also pops to mind is how communicating with others through blogland has opened me up as a creative person. the feed back, the goings on, even behind the scenes, keep my centre soft and focused, which isn't always easy, being a single mum. so. three cheers for communicado! theme chosen by flowtops in jane's corner view hosted by fuoriborgo

taking up cycling

'de muur van geraardsbergen' - the 'wall' road
any self-respecting sports fanatic knows about a good few belgian bicycle races, right? i have a lot of self-respect, but unfortunately hold no fanaticism towards any sport ('xcept walking, but it might just be a tad slow to be called a sport at the best of times). i just feel well alarmed, when choppers fill the afternoon sky, and the smell of hamburgers and sausages in the air lingers. the cyclists have come to town! the fans have landed! the road is hit! here we go!

compass table on top of the wall, 360° view
in between those much cheered competition races, our small provincial town is all ours, really. we can try to conquer that very same sloping wall, the walking way. admittedly, we stop off now and then, and gleefully keep that energy level balanced.

brussels waffle, what else? ☻
come to town too
you're invited. ☻

vintage finds | when silence says it all

it sits quite visibly on the bookshelf in the thriftshop. i quickly assert the scene. no other takers. i heave it off the high shelf.
the picture book creaks as i open it up, all whilest balancing a handbag and a camera. out tumbles alice. suits me fine. i've just walked a good few miles into the sunny landscape, and i feel a little adventurous myself. i mean. i wouldn't mind falling into a hole right now, for instance. this pop up copy of alice has belonged to a girl called i. i wonder why the heck she got rid of it. here's what i find.

now, was that fun? if you crave for further authenticity, as in, the real moving thing, then do sit down for a comfortable viewing of this restored copy, accompanied by an informative intro by the BFI. swoon, swoon... ☻ sophie's world of wonders, as in flea market finds, here.

drawing | bird

lazy sunday makes for lazy thoughts. alternating a good movie and wildlife (sort of) going on outside my window makes for fantastic relaxation. from nowhere bird flies into the tree. it is black. its tail is white and long. i'm calling my bird topbird, since it balances exotically on the top branch of this enormous douglas tree outside my skylight window. i have my camera on the stand, and lazily shoot a memory.  while i do so, i imagine BIRD to be an interesting drawing theme.

then i discover elisabeth's drawing challenge. you know? i love coincidence! it is my first bird i ever draw [well, to be exact trace]. i felt like sprucing it up a little. now i'm flying over to yours, to come and have a peek at your birds all. ☻ instigator & theme (by) elisabeth at textilspanieln.
