i have to say, winter time most definitely is a good old sherlock, with darkness all around us and the fear for jack-the-ripper-look-alikes. (let's not overlook the contemporary holmes though/ isn't benedict cumberbatch dish-yyyy... ?).

winter is dark alleys and lamp lit cobbled streets. dickensian as well, it is not knowing, but guessing, fearing mindblowing make-believe, and jeering at sneaky shadows along obscure walls.

i so love winter time for its fuzzy cosiness, and the  promise of a cuppa, over a real or an electric fire, your place or mine.

do you know of anybody with a fetish-like passion for kitchen artillery? you've landed. i have a true amour for salad dryers!

somewhere still wrapped up, sits this one (i did resist a fiery red one of the sorts a few months ago), but last week at the thrift shop i encountered a new buddy.

i should really say buddies, because chosing between these two i could not, so i finally decided on buying them both.

apart from the fact i am now with three (dryers), they're akward objects to stow away in the cupboard too! but don't you just ♥love♥ the (almost) colloseum design on the last one?

i think it's a 'he'

then on my way out, i got distracted by an ancient, pristine white (only a little biro-d), silent head. i think the bedroom will be the first room he'll end up in, after the walls get renovated. just to make him feel at home already, i tried his head out against vintage paper, and frankly, he shone. (you don't think it's a lady's head now, do you? son was adamant : he's a male, keep him out!).

wholly in the tradition of hauling vintage stuff from under dust and years of neglect, i'd laid my eye on her. i waited until the perfect moment arose (sales), and now i kind of own her (can one call anything really, 'property'?). she'll visit the washing machine, before joining the cue in the workroom, where she'll probably end up (cut up) in a grocery bag? imagine a leek sticking out, in continuation of those renaissance leaves? enjoy those vintage finds at sophie's!

he's off!

yep. he's off. posted him this morning. a long wait and then the till officer asking me registered, or not? i dunno. what if he goes astray, awry, underway? need to trust then, hey?

i haven't blabbed a thing about this business, but now my preps are done, i let you in on a sneak preview. (whole booklet here). via i-cannot-remember-where-and-who-on-w3 i stumbled upon THE SKETCHBOOK PROJECT 2011. before i could say schtum, i'd ordered a moleskine notebook, in order to participate. thrilled, excited, daunted. or what? 

more than that, i hardly had time to fill the notebook all up! so i took him on the commuter, made people stare, glued pages together (is that a cheat? ☻), and made it. just in time.

if i tell you it is really just a little booklet filled with doodling nonsense, will you judge me (not)? such fun nonetheless and it didn't half relieve the renovation tension from time to time... i can highly recommend.

PS - for the honeyz reading in the states : this doodle booklet will be part of a traveling exhibition until well into mid 2011. so look at the dates a-here, and if you make it, tell me, won't ya's? kick off in brooklyn.
