drawing challenge NEW THEME : {head in da} CLOUD(s)

a lot like britain, i'll say
very often, in those weeks running up to end of summer term in primary school, we lay on a small strip of grass in the school grounds, heads turned towards the sky. on cloudy days, we loved to see imaginary goodness sailing by. and then telling eachother off. or else trying to get one's impression explained. oh, the impatience at someone not seeing what you obviously saw! i remember distinctly a bracchiosaurus, one afternoon. nobody else did. there was a lot of wind high up in the air, and in retrospect i do agree that long vast dinosaur's neck soon swiftly spun out into a silver spoon... well, no one saw that either.
i still see loveliness in the cloudy skies! [as opposed to baby scan pictures... here now, i have never ever seen beyond cloudy whirls and twirls! is it just me?]

never mind. new drawing theme a CLOUD, or two. who's daring to fly, towards the sky? do come and join ... these lovely challengers already succombed :

vintage finds | a header explained

as i was preparing above header (update! header now changed again), i got thinking about what it offers the viewer, besides it being the perfect companion to woolfenbell-in-summer. all items, from back- to foreground, are vintage.

the little house was rummaged amongst rubble, as old houses usually are. in my dreams, this house is it. in reality, it is this: a little stoneware gem.

the animal to the right is a goat, if you'd ask me. goats sometimes 'hang from' trees. this little copper beauty pulled my attention for being tiny and seemingly smart. oh, and big as a house, of course, as the header shows.

in the middle sits an enigma. the bottom side being a spool i unintentionally glued to the earring ball above. this image totally explains moi. the ball came undone, it needed mending. i unhooked it and glued it together again. then i needed it to rest on a support. how about an old plastic spool?
☻ chances are i won't be able to pull it off its stand no more. i will just have to go through life in a pair of sphere earrings, one ball slightly out of character, for dragging a cotton spool to it. i can't decide. left or right ear? summer does weird things 'rond here. sophie's attic too today!

drawing | monster

i can't count back how many times we sat in front of the screen for woody & co's adventures, dubbed or not. as a matter of fact, dubbed in flemish worked wonders for small children here, as i could read from son's face. and probably from mine too. since toy story was man made after all, famous film quotes emerged.

for me, nothing got better but the sound that came out of the aliens' mouths.  time and again, i gazed at the one that got himself selected by The Claw, enthralled i heard "i have been chosen! farewell, my friends. i go on to a better place." the very paradox of it...
julia's announcement monster didn't half scare me. i wonder what more monsters will emerge this weekend, and whether they'll have something enthralling to say? if so, we could throw ourselves a summer hallow-e'en party? a little monster's ball, perhaps? ☻

BY THE WAY
i will be hosting next week.
