wishing and hoping and thinking and ... {earth day}

easter promises from ariane r.
i prepared quite a different blog post over the past week, for i was convinced i could combine renovation work in the mornings with drawing in the afternoons. no such thing.

house in suburb

firstly i had to look for my courage somewhere amongst the cabbage, for i had no courage at all. how i ever got myself pumped enough to keep going... now there's a question.

this is exactly what it means : new laptop

once i got going i just kept going, i think, breaking the tension by frequent visits to the diy store; luckily just round the corner from where i live.

bathroom progress, as seen from above

so all i did was measuring, sawing, drilling, plastering, fastening, beating and wishing. wishing up for a different scenario, that was. just to show you how hard i swallowed my efforts.

detail of sanding down old tiny cupboard. circle is from where an old handle sat

somehow it got to friday and an hesitant sun in a grey forecasted sky guided my outdoors paint stripping acts on a bedside table to be. it did get me closer to the wood worm... yeah. that too. ☻

cherry blossom pink by now, bedside table to be
once it starts raining, it doesn't half pour, albeit those grey skies remained dry. which is a plus. and after all, all the things i got done, are now forever done. only...

bathroom {un}progress and end of my street
i didn't finish the bathroom, did i? i got a few new ideas along the way. and i brace myself with the knowledge that the creative process does have this tendency of looking like i make things up as i go along, ...

earth day, april 22, melodye's AC

... so that realising where it gets me and taking it from there is jollier than feeling sorry for what all that hasn't been done... and a safer bet than just wishing. that as well, i guess.

melodye's AC this weekend and have a fantastic week ahead {and weekend!} ♥

night train to italy, july 2016
i got back from the holidays a while ago and still feel in a certain summery swing. keeping my studio windows wide open is a plus. sorting out the last batch of july photos is almost a fact [via facebook ☻]

just show up

i started painting the 100+ years old sideboard in the beginning of july
if blogland lies dormant still, then there's another rattling thingy in my cupboard : renovation. yesterday morning, as i pulled myself through lesson 7 of a running program, i promised myself recovery on my renovation planning also.

rejoice

body's cracked, and so is this week's code : work ennobles. what you witness is a washstand in a further stage of definition by adding mosaic tiling, and a floor that is no longer carpeted bloodred but super smooth gray and washable. today i'm resting on my laurels.

corner view ≈ bath and shower | dec # 17

on and off i have been talking about renovating the house, and more specifically, the bathroom shower..
i have deliberately not shown too much of my labour, because often an early show backfires. so i worked diligently {read : desperately} and am finally at a stage where even the grout is finding its gritty place.
thank heavens for deadlines : my plumber came over to install the shower head bar the handle for i accidentally threw out the mounting bits.... arggrh. TO BE CONTINUED
so. for now. shower {still} closed for x-mas decorations...  jane's corner view, francesca's hosting.

month of july, collage be {ii}

last year i did a long july post. i kind of put all things together.
i liked that myriad feel and decided to do something similar this summer.
my summer holidays are ending. i feel sad, but happy about the things i accomplished.
mainly, i have been working, in and around the house.

the shower is taking shape, slowly, slowly.
the garden {not shown here} has been seen to, slowly, slowly.
big and smaller jobs have been done.
when i wasn't working, i walked about alot and saw ...
curious and ...
... curiouser things.
it is true, when the weather is a blast, one doesn't need going far to find....
... everything.
... and more ....
... sipping blood red cocktail things, ...
enduring hot, hot temperatures at times, ....
taking as many pictures as possible for this project which is now well over half way, ....
not adding all of the images to my folio, because some houses just aren't local, ....

also, always curling back upon myself, trying out new ventures.
in many respects, the summer holidays have been perfect.
i may still pop back before the weekend of august 23/24,
when i'll be hosting the new drawing challenge theme.
if not, till then!
enjoy the rest of summer (in western europe), and if not, enjoy anyway!
i'll be dying next week {going back into work}, ... and live. i suppose.

update

you never know

i've never been one for cellars. so when i bought this house-cum-cellars i just hoped i'd get away with ignoring them. then the electrician happened and he suggested i put in good lights and sockets, you never know. well, hooray for my electrician!

cellars plural: i have three and a half. above see the stairs casement cubicle, now home to brooms, ironing board and clothes rack.

the middle cellar houses my 'dirty' studio. here i cut, saw, dust, scrub, paint and drill. the light is perfect, i have electrical power and everything is quite neatly stored.

front cellars are devided into two parts, (shown here is the left store room). seen as i've got things under seeming control down here, i suppose it's hands-on with that blasted footstool i was yappin' on about a while ago. first a bit more plastering. i will keep y'all posted.

no can do

wait a minute. 30°C? {yes, those are old slippers on my feet.}

no can do.
luckily i cemented and plastered the shower walls just a few days ago.

so, this morning, and before the hottest heat, i was here.

now we're back onto drawing houses...
been there, done that

a hard day's day

and thus.
we grope and grovel.
we bite the dust.
it was the prospect of a red hot soaker of a bath that purred me on.
more of the same tomorrow, i'm afraid.

drawing | no limits

i have a box filled with clear stamps, most of which haven't been used. up to today!

yeah, i set myself no limits and went overboard. guess what? it was {welcome} fun.

a mighty change from the last few days' work out. slowly, madly, deeply, a shower cell is being built. from scratch. why did i ever? i am convinced, though, patience will bloom. so will labour. also, here's river's this week update. you could say my days have been filled.
zap that week, it's the weekend! you'll find a myriad of unlimited behaviour chez roberto
